The sensation of pain in the pelvis and its intolerance. The pelvic pain will present as acute and chronic pelvic pain. Sometimes the pain may be a referred pain from other sites of the body like hypogastrium and medial aspects of the thighs.
ACUTE PELVIC PAIN:
- short duration
- insidious in onset
- pain not proportionate to structural tissue damage.
- management is blood and urine investigation. In other cases, surgical management is needed.
CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN:
- NON-CYCLIC pain
- more than 6 months of duration
- diagnosed by cornett sign, pessary test
- treatment is rest, NSAIDs, analgesics and severe cases surgical management is needed.
