Life saving aids

In our life, we don't know what will happen at any moment. If someone suffers from a medical emergency, we don't know how to tackle such situation to aid that person. So I recommend everybody to take first-aid training because the medical emergency may arise anywhere and at any time. There are some rules to be followed by a layman while helping others. He should give an artificial oxygen supply to the lungs and to stop bleeding which prevents further injury.

If some person swallowed poisons then a doctor should be called immediately and in the meantime give one ounce of syrup of ipecac with a cup of water or inducing vomit by tickling back of the throat with a spoon handle, after giving water. This makes the person vomit those poisonous substances and the above tips are not recommended if the person is unconscious. So please keep all first-aid treatment kit for poisoning at home. If someone needs first-aid don't disturb or allow him to stand up or walk around. Loose all his tight clothing and transfer him to a hospital in a lying position.

In case of burns due to overexposure to sun, I recommend you to pour water over the burn which will relieve the pain and prevents the further damage to the skin. Apply some burn ointment or a solution of baking soda. You may sometimes face such problems like the accidental catch of fire in your friend's cloth and he will shout for help. Don't be anxious and simply make the person to roll on the floor to extinguish the flames or envelop him in a coat, blanket, table cover etc.,

Some tips to rescue the victim from electric shock which is useful for the electrician and you too. First, you want to shut off the electric current and separate the victim from the source of current and bring the victim in a semi-recumbent position and then call a physician or rescue vehicle.

In our country majority of people are living in the rural areas and a large number of deaths occur due to snakebite. If a snake bites a person, immediately bandage the limb tightly enough above the wound and if necessary keep moving the tourniquet upward as swelling extends. Then open the holes made by the snake's fangs and the blood is allowed to run from the knife-cut. The person should be moved to a doctor as soon as possible. My advice is to travel safer in the snake-infested area with an emergency snakebite kit.
